Problem, constraints and approach
Microsoft and Klarna wanted shoppers to split a purchase into four interest-free payments right at checkout, built into the Edge browser itself. The hard part was trust: the feature issues new Visa cards, so card details had to travel from Klarna to Microsoft without ever being exposed. I connected the browser’s front end to Klarna’s payment system to issue the cards, and sent the card details to Microsoft with end-to-end encryption.
What I built
- Managed the integration of Klarna’s Buy Now Pay Later into the core of the Microsoft Edge browser, a Klarna × Microsoft collaboration.
- Connected the front end to Klarna’s payment system to issue new Visa cards.
- Sent the card details to Microsoft securely, with end-to-end encryption.
